So I just re-watched one of my favorite animes and thought there was a good thought in there for Motivation Monday. In the last major arc of the series, two men were depicted to have almost identical paths in life except for their latter 10 years, which pushed them both towards opposing views. One side was consumed by Darwinism ( the whole concept of strong live and weak die) and the other side was striving to define justice as protecting the seemingly weak or even all life. These two men then clashed and one side was victorious. The victor then said something very interesting which is quite contrary to a lot of other 90's anime at the time. They state that, the winner does not decide the truth. If one assumes the winner defines rightness the they are definitely in the wrong because that is not necessarily the case. Rightness can't be defined by one battle or even a few battles. He later goes to say its better to define truth by striving to live everyday through acts that define said truth, meaning spending one's life in the pursuit of defining whatever truth they live by with all their being.
I find this idea inherently interesting because its so contrary to the standard of "good guys always win" concept. It's easy to believe that the good guys always win and, by extension, they define truth because of that, but its possible that what they believe isn't all true. Its also interesting because it promotes free thinking in some ways. It opens the converation of what is the truth? Or even, how do we define it? I think it's worth some thought. How do you define truth? Or do you even define it?
Enjoy the rest of MerMay,
